IMS 700: OFF TO A FLYING START!

In our last newsletter we announced that the first yacht had been hauled ashore at IMS 700 in December, five days ahead of schedule. Discover the video by clicking here

This haul-out marked the partial opening of the site, prior to the last phase of work set to be completed in March. Since then, a number of yachts have followed at IMS 700.

"We have already received around twenty boats that have occupied the 12 available spaces on a full-time basis," explains Denis Pellegrino, President of IMS Shipyard. Production is now effective on-site and the shipyard’s workforce has been doubled.

Since January, IMS Shipyard has taken on two covered paint workshops for 65 and 50 metre units, three 5 year class surveys on 50 metre vessels, installation of an active stabilisation system on a 50 metre yacht and a good deal of maintenance work.

The full opening of the entire IMS 700 park and the large floating zone is set for the 15th of March, according to the initial schedule… an important moment for the naval repair industry!

MILITARY AUTHORITIES AT IMS 700: A HIGH LEVEL VISIT

Denis Pelligrino, President of IMS Shipyard welcomed the Maritime Prefect to the IMS 700 site, accompanied by authorities from the Mediterranean Defence Ministry. The objective of this visit was to show how IMS Shipyard has transformed its site into an exceptional repair centre for large vessels, unique in the Mediterranean..

As a reminder, this amazing site is owned by the French Navy and is on lease to IMS by TPM for close to half a century.

"For our interlocutors it was a question of making sure our accomplishments were in accordance with their requirements: and the result is strongly positive. The Prefect was immensely satisfied with the transformation of the former Saint Mandrier military base into a naval repair centre," comments Denis Pellegrino.

This augers very well for IMS 700, as the shipyard is set to become an expert subcontractor for military vessel haul-out, for maintenance contract holders with the French Navy.

IMS 300: SEASON IN FULL SWING

At IMS 300, yacht haul-out is continuing at a fast pace. By the 1st of October, just after the Monaco Yacht Show, 19 yachts already stood side by side on the tarmac at IMS 300… a record!
The shipyard had just finished the second phase of coating the hard-standing area and environmental work (installation of a water recovery system).

Recently, IMS 300 received a 52 metre Palmer & Johnson – the largest yacht hauled out by the shipyard to date. Trinity Zoom Zoom Zoom also arrived for a 10-year class survey and a 50-metre military patrol boat from Cameroon has been taken in for engine removal and electrical work.

Finally, the Lady ship refit is set to be completed in April, after 15 months of major technical and cosmetic work… a great project that will be photo-featured in the next IMS Shipyard newsletter.
